Not if you ask Harvard health expert, William Shrank, who calls Facebook "Wild West" when it comes to information on health.

This is because of the study was conducted in his group the popular online community which found that many health recommendations came from the samples non FDA approved products and services.

Of 15 diabetes related Facebook pages, 27% of the comments from people promote non FDA sanctioned products or practices.

Harvard team recommends the following:

"Policymakers should consider how to assure transparency in promotional activities, and patients seeking social-networking sites developed and continuously patrolled by health professionals to promote the exchange of accurate and objective information"

I admit that there are people on Facebook who try to take advantage of people to make money, but I also think that the problem with the idea that only staff FDA and Heath have accurate and objective information.

How many times has THE FDA has wrong? how can the countless amount of anecdotal evidence is being ignored, which shows the effectiveness of non-FDA approved treatments or medical profession?

This shows that "we are better and smarter than you" attitude of some academic world seems to have, especially against those who think outside the box when it comes to diet, health and fitness.

What are your thoughts on the idea that we should only consider health advice from FDA and health professionals? participate in comments and poll below.

Consumers should only FDA and doctor approved products and treatments in health issues?
